Happy New Year!

I have been blogging since February 2005.
Before I know it, it has been almost 2 years where this intangible piece of real estate becomes an integral part of my life. As 2006 comes to a close, I felt that it is time to wrap up my little project.
I have my ups and downs which I document here - sometimes more graphically detailed and at other times, more reservedly.
2 good years... Many articles...
Lotsa thought-stimulating sessions...
Unless something extraordinary happens to me, this blog will not be updated and no new entries will be posted. I may still pop by and reply to comments added on my earlier posts on an on-and-off basis though.
No matter what, I wanna extend my thanks to all my fellow bloggers and blog readers for taking the time to read my ramblings. Considering that my ramblings are so wordy and they appear almost on a daily basis, I really appreciate your patience and effort in reading what I have to write here.
I wish you all a very happy new year.
May 2007 be the best year for you yet!

Ending off 2006

2006 has been a years of ups and downs.
We end off this year with a Thanksgiving cell group (Friday) in a cozy setting, where we enjoy the ambience of out friends' home and, of course, each others' company.
After the last church service of the year (today), I can look back and laugh. Although this had been a difficult year, but I can, for the first time, afford some things I have never thought affordable in the past.
I have also patched up with a cherished friend. For those of you who have attended the Thanksgiving cell group meeting, you will have known a large part of the story. =)
I have also grown somewhat wiser this year through all that has happened in 2006.
This year is not really a best year for me.
But it is going to be over in about 3 hours time.
I have fought.
I have endured disappointments.
I have felt embarassed.
I have felt angry, sad and filled with despair;
I am thrilled when I shot a number of balls into the holes on the pool table with my cue. Meeting pleasant people [and some not so pleasant ones] who have enabled me to become a better person and a better friend.
I have my fair share of anger and disappointments, of understanding and of misunderstandings as well as ups and downs in 2006 - more downs than ups [I must say]. No matter what, I never want to believe that I am just an insignificant speck in the universe, like what Miss Izzy reckoned in a recent blog entry.
I choose to believe that 2007 will be a better year.
I am believing for a breakthough in my walk with God, a breakthrough in my career, a breakthrough in my ministry and not forgetting the wonderful soulmate whom I have been praying about and praying for.
I choose to believe and to act upon my beliefs.

Brolly Talk

I have never liked umbrellas.
Until recently, that is.
Thanks to the extreme cold and wet weather in December, an umbrella has become a necessity even for a person who hated to bring the umbrella along - like yours truly.
I always think it is inconvenient carrying this extra object (like an umbrella) where I move around. Therefore, I always find it hard to comprehend why some ladies like to carry a big bag where they cramp a lot of seemingly useful things which they never use most of the time.
Anyway...
I like to travel light, with the minimal of things to carry on me. Therefore, as far as possible, I do not carry a bag, an umbrella or any other thing(s) that I deem unnecessary for my trip(s) unless I really have to. In fact, one day, I might not even need to bring my keys and wallet. Just one card in hand and everything can be settled with ease. But we will need to concern ourselves with the security issue....
But that is another issue altogether. =)
Sorry for the sidetrack. Back to the umbrellas... All the umbrellas that I have at home are just downright ugly. I will not want to carry them with me at all. Period! And Giordano has sold out their nice black umbrellas when I check out the outlets that are near my place. So...
Unfortunately (or is it fortunately), because I got myself a book from Times Bookshop after lunch earlier on today, I was caught in a very heavy downpour. There is absolutely no chance for me to run that 30 metres across to the building which housed my office without getting completely drenched.
It is either I wait for God-knows-how-long before I can have a drizzle small enough for me to make my way across dry and comfy. Or I will just have to get an umbrella there and then. I have little choice here. I opted for the latter.
So here we have, a dark grey unbrella sitting in my office workstation. The more I look at it, the more I like it - though it is just a plain umbrella. =)

Long-lasting Friendship & Temporary Anger

"We have the right to be angry with friends who have hurt us.
This is our right. And it is something that make us human."

In this imperfect world filled with imperfect people, it is inevitable that we hurt people who matter to us - whether intentional or unintentional.

Yes! We have the right to be angry. But to allow the anger to kill off such a precious friendship is not worth it, especially if your friend(s) did not hurt you intentionally.

We ought to be angry at times. But we also ought to give ourselves some time to calm down too. One day? Two days? Three days? And so on...

"But do not let things drag for too long."

After simmering down, it is time to forgive and forget. Ultimately, the friend(s) matters to you more than anything else. We may not all be saints, but we can all learn to be a better friend.

For you whom I call my friend... You know who you are so I need not mention names. I choose to forgive and forget. So... I'll see you around ya! =)

Oh! Please prepare more cookies and biscuits to 'feed the cat.' Lolz! ^^

"Potato, Potato!"

3 thieves, who were being chased, decided to hide in the barn.
As their pursuers pressed in closer, the first thief makes a meowing sound, and succeeded in making his pursuers think that it is a cat.
The second imitated the sounds made by mice and was thus able to fool his pursuers to look elsewhere.
Guess what the third thief did?
He threw a sack over his head and shouted, "potato potato."
Now, guess what happens next? =)

A Placard

There is this place where I get my regular supply of coffee each day. As long as I am reporting to work at that office on a normal working day, I will go there and get some coffee.
Now, above the payment counter of this outlet is a little plastic placard with this saying,
"We do not decide our future.
But we decide our habits;
and our habits decide our future."
Do you agree with the person who penned this?
Do spend some time to reflect on what is inscribed above.

6 Wins!

For the last time in 2006 (I suppose), I have a wonderful session of pool with 2 of my cue buddies. Yesterday.
The rain and cold did not dampen our spirits. In fact, we were having a great time... And KW thrashed YL once. Hah! And I beat our star player at least twice (out of pure luck).
All in all, I won 6 games in the 2 hours or so, most of them through sheer luck.
My skills are still pathetically in need of improvement. Any trainers who is willing to train a blockhead for free? Call me! =p
